Slow it down so you don’t miss anything, or speed it up through the repetitive parts. Simply use the small gear icon on the bottom right of the video and you will see a ‘Speed’ option there. Vimeo Blocked in Your Country https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/vimeo-blocked-in-your-country/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/vimeo-blocked-in-your-country/#comments Wed, 12 Apr 2017 03:43:48 +0000 https://www.yenersway.com/?p=21321 What’s the Problem?

At Yeners Way we host our premium tutorials on a website called Vimeo. Unfortunately, in some countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and China to name a few), Vimeo is blocked and inaccessible. If you are in one of these countries and have subscribed to Yeners Way or purchased a tutorial individually, you may see a blank area where a tutorial video should appear. So at this point, you basically have 3 options…request a refund, move (joke), or use a VPN.

What’s a VPN?

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, allows you to create a secure connection to another network over the Internet. VPNs can be used to access region-restricted websites, shield your browsing activity from prying eyes on public Wi-Fi, and more. VPNs essentially forward all your network traffic to the network, which is where the benefits – like accessing local network resources remotely and bypassing Internet censorship – all come from. Most operating systems have integrated VPN support.

How can I get a VPN?

Firstly, there’s the free option which is quick an easy. You can simply use an extension for Google Chrome called Betternet Unlimited Free VPN Proxy. After installing it to Google Chrome, there will be a shield icon in the top right corner of Google Chrome. Click the shield, and then click ‘Connect’. You should now be able to watch the tutorials.

If you do not use Google Chrome, there should be similar extensions/add-ons for all browsers but I cannot recommend any here.

If you are after a little more control, there are also many premium options which give you more features, one of which is the ability to choose locations to connect to. This is of course a good thing because your internet speed will be faster if you can connect to a location near you. We’ve only had experience with one premium VPN service in particular which is called PureVPN but they all do pretty much the same thing…give you more privacy and security when using the internet.

If you want to watch the tutorials on a mobile device (iPhone, iPad, etc), you can also do this with PureVPN as well. They have an app for iOS and Android that makes it very easy to get setup.

Of course if you have any issues, feel free to email us and we will be happy to assist.

DISCLAIMER: It is your responsibility to check the laws in your country and check whether using a VPN is illegal or not. We do not accept any liability or responsibility over anybody’s internet activity.

How to Deal with Spam Messages https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/how-to-deal-with-spam-messages/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/how-to-deal-with-spam-messages/#respond Thu, 26 May 2016 13:44:27 +0000 http://www.yenersway.com/?p=17716 As you probably already know, Yeners Way allows you to connect with other members in a number of different ways. One of which is a way to send public or private messages to other users on the site. While this can be useful, it also comes with a downside. That downside being that even those with malicious intentions can also use the messaging system to send emails to other users.

Firstly, if this happens to you and you receive a strange email from an unknown person, that was sent from Yeners Way, you should just ignore and delete it.

So what else can you do?

To prevent the user from doing it any further, head over to the user’s profile page at Yeners Way and flag the user as inappropriate. This will mark the user as spam in our system and they won’t be able to send any more messages.

In order to do this, first you need to know what the person’s username is. To find out what the person’s username is, take a look at the email that you received and find the person’s username. It will be seen on the line that reads…”username sent you a new message:”. After you have found the user’s username, there are two ways to go.

First way
Open your browser and in the address bar, type ‘http://www.yenersway.com/members/username’ where username is the person’s username that is shown in the email. This will take you to the malicious person’s profile page where, provided you are logged in, you will see a link to flag the user as inappropriate.

Second way
First make sure you are logged in to Yeners Way. Then from the main navigation bar, go to ‘Community’, then click on ‘Members’. This will take you to a page where you can search members at Yeners Way. Now enter the person’s username that you found earlier from the email, into the search bar at the top right. After you find the user, click on their name from the search results and go to their profile page. Now you should be able to see the link to flag the user as inappropriate.

Here’s a screen shot of the link…

flag-user-link

As a last precaution, just contact us to let us know and we will disable the malicious user’s account as soon as we can. However, please understand that we can’t guarantee that the spammer won’t just create a new account and repeat the process.

Unfortunately, this kind of activity is part of the internet and the only way to stop it is by getting rid of the social features of Yeners Way altogether…and we don’t want to do that do we?. Best we can do is stay vigilant and be careful about what we click on and respond to in our emails. As long as we don’t take the desired action in response to a malicious email, then there’s nothing to worry about.

New Lessons Panel View Mode https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/new-lessons-panel-view-mode/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/new-lessons-panel-view-mode/#comments Fri, 20 Mar 2015 16:21:58 +0000 http://www.yenersway.com/?p=9394 I have added a new view mode to all premium tutorial pages that brings up a lessons panel right beside the video. This should make it much easier to navigate through the tutorial without having to scroll down to the lessons tab below the video. Simply use the two new buttons located below the video to the right. The one on the left is the default ‘full width’ view and the one on the right will decrease the width of the video and display the lessons panel. Of course the lessons are also clickable and will take you to that lesson in the video. Feel free to change view modes at any time. Please note however that these view mode buttons are only available when watching tutorials from a desktop computer with a screen width of 1280px or larger.

I hope this new view mode is useful and would love to hear any feedback so feel free to comment or email me 🙂 Also please let me know if you run into any bugs and they aren’t working as they should.

Repeat & Skip Action Buttons https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/repeat-skip-action-buttons/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/repeat-skip-action-buttons/#comments Mon, 17 Nov 2014 02:05:32 +0000 http://www.yenersway.com/?p=6094 One of our members emailed me recently (thanks Mary Jane!) wishing that we had a 30 second rewind feature (like the one that Craftsy has) so I got to work to try to implement this for our tutorials at Yeners Way. We are proud to announce that we now have a fully functioning 30 second repeat button as well as a 60 second repeat button, 30 second skip button and a 60 second skip button. I don’t know how helpful the skip & rewind buttons will be but I thought I would throw them in while I was at it. If you are currently a member, I hope you find these new action buttons useful. Please comment below if you do as I would love the feedback.

How do they work?
If you click on the ’60 SEC REPEAT’ button, the video will play the last 60 seconds, over and over until you click the button again. As long as the video is in repeat mode (indicated by the circling arrows spinning around), the video will repeat. Once you switch it off, the video will stop repeating and continue to play as per normal. The ’30 SEC REPEAT’ works exactly the same way except it’s 30 seconds instead of 60. If you click the ’30 SEC SKIP’ button, the video will jump forward 30 seconds and if you click the ’60 SEC SKIP’ button, the video will jump forward 60 seconds. If you click the ’30 SEC REWIND’ button, the video will jump back 30 seconds and if you click the ’60 SEC REWIND’ button, the video will jump back 60 seconds.

If you are currently a subscriber or you have purchased tutorials from Yeners Way, I hope you find these new action buttons useful. Please comment below if you do, I would love the feedback! Also, anyone has any other suggestions on how we can improve your learning experience, your ideas are always welcome. Thanks!

Interactive Lesson Lists https://www.yenersway.com/blog/news-events/interactive-lesson-lists/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/news-events/interactive-lesson-lists/#respond Sat, 25 Oct 2014 14:16:41 +0000 http://www.yenersway.com/?p=5610 It’s something that many of our members have requested so we are super happy to announce that it’s finally here. Our lesson lists are now interactive and members can click to jump to specific sections of a tutorial.

This will make it much easier to get around and only watch the parts you need to refer to at a given time. There’s plenty more in the making and we are always working hard to provide a better user experience for our members.

To give it a try, just go to any of our premium tutorials, click on the ‘Lessons’ tab and click on one of the lessons. If the tutorial is in parts it will also take you to the correct part.

If there’s ever anything you can think of that would make Yeners Way better, we are all ears so please drop us an email with your suggestions and requests.

Thanks

Affiliate Tools Widget https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/affiliate-tools-widget/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/affiliate-tools-widget/#comments Mon, 19 May 2014 16:18:54 +0000 http://www.yenersway.com/?p=2310 We have an affiliate program here at Yeners Way that could offer some healthy rewards to those who spread the word about us. If you want to learn more about it please visit our affiliate program information page.

Heres what the widget looks like for our Cute Farm Animals Cake tutorial...

Heres what the widget looks like for our Cute Farm Animals Cake tutorial

We want to make it super easy for our active affiliates to do their thing so we created a special Affiliate Tools widget. To see this widget, you must be logged in and you may need to change your Display Options settings so that your Affiliate Tools widget is set to ‘Show’. Once those 2 requirements are met, the widget will show up in the right sidebar of any of our premium tutorial pages.

Basically, this widget will contain a bunch of different sized banners specific to that tutorial that will be preloaded with your unique affiliate ID. So all you have to do is just copy the code, and paste it on your blog or website. The widget will also contain standard text links that you can use as well.

Sites like Facebook and Pinterest won’t actually allow you to post affiliate links in your posts and pins. If you have a WordPress website/blog of your own, and you want to use the standard text affiliate links on social network sites like Facebook or Pinterest, you can use a plugins like Pretty Link or Simple URL. These plugins will basically allow you to just share a link to your own site that will redirect through your affiliate link to Yeners Way.

By far the most effective way to promote Yeners Way is to write a review or recommendation in the form of a blog post/article, which contains your affiliate link/s. This way, you will receive traffic through search engines as well as being able to share your post on social networks with no limitations.

If anyone is interested in more information on our affiliate program or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help.

Your Social Links https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/social-links/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/social-links/#respond Mon, 05 May 2014 15:45:11 +0000 http://www.yenersway.com/?p=2144 If you’ve registered an account here at Yeners Way, you probably already know that you have a public profile. One of the things your profile allows you to do is to set up social icons to help people connect with you.
Maybe you own a cake business and you want to link back to your business website, maybe you want people to see your cake creations on Pinterest or maybe you just want people to be able to say “Hi” to you on Facebook or via email. Whatever your preference, you’ll be glad to know that you can display your social links on your profile so others can learn more about you and your cake artistry.
To set up your social links, just click on Profile->Edit->Links on your profile navigation bar (see the image above) and fill in the fields that you want to share. You will then see a row of social icons just below your cover photo. Whatever you leave blank will not be displayed in the row of icons.

Your Display Options https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/display-options/ https://www.yenersway.com/blog/help/display-options/#comments Thu, 17 Apr 2014 06:01:11 +0000 http://www.yenersway.com/?p=2006 If you’ve joined Yeners Way recently, you may have noticed that there are a few settings you can set up on your profile. For example, your own avatar, a cover image, a blurb about yourself, etc. There is also a tab under your profile where you can set your ‘Display Options’. These are some elements that you can show and hide in relation to your account on Yeners Way. There is just a small issue I wanted to bring your attention to regarding these display options.

Although we have been building it for a while now, Yeners Way is still brand new at the time of writing this. We are constantly working on it, improving and making changes to it daily. One small issue that we have encountered is where users are uploading their avatars or cover images and they are not being updated properly on their profiles.

This problem is related to the ‘Display Options’ page. To fix this, just head over to your ‘Display Options’ page and simply click the ‘Save Changes’ button. This will put all your settings into effect and it only needs to be done once, so after the first time you do this, all your display options will work as they should. Yes, this is supposed to work by default, but it’s a technical issue we are looking at and we hope to resolve it in the near future.

So to summarise, after you have logged in to your account, go to your ‘Display Options’ page under your profile and click the ‘Save Changes’ button to make everything take effect and work properly. Once you have done that, all your display options will work as they should.

Thanks!
Serkan Yener
