Join me in this 3D Electric Guitar Cake tutorial as I guide you through the process of creating one of the most iconic electric guitars of all time – the legendary Gibson Les Paul – as a life-sized 3D cake!

This guitar has been played by some of the greatest musicians in rock history, including Slash from Guns N’ Roses, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, Joe Perry from Aerosmith, and, of course, Les Paul himself. It’s a guitar that has inspired generations, and now, I’ll show you how to bring this masterpiece to life in cake form!

In this tutorial, I’ll be working from blueprints, photos, and even my own memories from my days as an electric guitar player. My goal is to create a cake that’s as realistic as possible, down to the slim, solid body that sets electric guitars apart from their acoustic counterparts. I’ve made plenty of guitar cakes in the past, including the famous Fender Stratocaster, but today we’re focusing on the classic Les Paul.

Along the way, I’ll share my tips, tricks, and techniques for replicating the details that make this guitar so special. And don’t worry, even if you’re a beginner, I’ll walk you through the basic principles so you can apply these skills to other guitar models as well.

As you may remember, I have made a few boat cakes in the past but making a cruise liner ship cake has always remained on my agenda. So here it is! In this tutorial you are going to see me doing the Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas Cruise Ship as a cake. I will attempt to make it as detailed as possible using a combination of smart methods so that it is done in a practical way without unnecessarily spending too much time. As you see with the reference pictures, this particular ship is a very large vessel with an amusement park. I am not going to worry too much about the complications you see on the deck so the techniques I will show you can be easily converted to deferent designs. This time, I will not draw any cake plans because the reference images that are available are good enough to give me exact directions to follow, meaning there are orthographic projections for the top view, and side views. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and learn something new from it.

I also wanted to show you how to create a racing car cake with all the colorful stickers and decals using edible printed images. I will go through my steps as a guidance so you can incorporate them for your own needs. In the cake decorating world, anything and everything has been requested to be made as a cake. We can make a house, a piano or a car…no problem. These are things we simply scale down. If we have to make something like a pen for a writer or a golf ball, we need to scale these items up to achieve enough volume as a cake to be served at an event. Then we have certain objects that are best to keep to the actual real life size in order to make it look more realistic. In these cases, we have to make the item our of sugar or chocolate, and accompany the item with a cake of some kind. This could be a simple cake coated with fondant or it could be a 3D cake of an object related to the item in question. Problem solved! Jewellery objects are a perfect example of what I am talking about. Today’s tutorial is of a sugar necklace presented on a 3D necklace display stand.
